1. Project Background: Continuity and Trust from Phase I to Phase II
As a global leader in industrial automation and digital transformation, Siemens AG, drawing on more than 170 years of technological heritage, continues to drive the manufacturing industry toward intelligent and green development. Located in Wuxi’s Xinwu District, the Siemens Medium Voltage Smart Digital Factory is one of Siemens’ core strategic projects in the Yangtze River Delta region for smart manufacturing deployment, focusing on the efficient manufacturing of medium-voltage electrical products and pioneering new paradigms in digital production.
Looking back on Phase I, HUIYA successfully completed the supply and installation of a 2,500-square-meter ECS1000 Encapsulated Galvanized Steel Calcium Sulphate Raised Access Floor system in December 2025. Since the factory entered operation, the raised access floor systems in the Phase I office and production support areas have received high praise from the Siemens project team in terms of load stability, environmental performance, and ease of maintenance—with stable equipment operation, no floor deformation, and efficient cabling maintenance, achieving overall performance that meets Siemens’ unified global factory quality standards.
It was precisely on the basis of Phase I’s successful delivery and excellent user feedback that the Siemens project management team, upon launching the Phase II factory expansion, directly renewed its contract with HUIYA as the exclusive supplier and installation service provider for the 5,500-square-meter raised access floor system in Phase II, without conducting a second round of bidding. This continuation of cooperation, founded on “trust earned through quality,” represents the dual recognition of HUIYA’s product strength and service capabilities by a German industrial giant.
2. New Challenges in Phase II: Multi-Faceted Stringent Requirements of Smart Factories on Floor Systems
Compared to Phase I, the Phase II project shows significant increases in scale and functional complexity, placing higher demands on the raised access floor system:
🔸 1. Flatness Challenge of Large-Area Continuous Installation
The 5,500-square-meter Phase II construction area spans multiple functional zones (open offices, meeting rooms, archive rooms, tea break areas, restrooms, etc.). According to the on-site color floor plan, different zones must interface with various surface materials—including Dream Color wall tiles, Mirage PVC, Pearland Vista PVC, Gratisland LVT wood-grain, and Summerfield Oak flooring, with specifications including 25cm×100cm, 22.86cm×91.44cm, 23cm×150cm, etc. The finished floor height must maintain flatness within ±0.5mm across the entire floor to ensure seamless transitions between multiple surface materials.
🔸 2. Load-Bearing Demands of Smart Equipment and Heavy Workstations
The Phase II factory area integrates a higher density of smart manufacturing equipment, automated production line monitoring terminals, and high-density workstations. Some areas must withstand the repeated forces of heavy mobile equipment, requiring the raised access floor system to demonstrate stable concentrated load capacity and impact resistance.
🔸 3. German-Standard Fire Safety, Anti-Static and Green Environmental Requirements
As a German multinational, Siemens enforces near-stringent internal control standards for the environmental performance, fire rating, and VOC emissions of building materials. The raised access floor must meet zero-formaldehyde, zero-radiation, and Class A fire ratings, while maintaining stable performance over long-term use.
🔸 4. Schedule Pressure of Concurrent Construction and Delivery
Some areas of the Phase II factory had already entered the equipment installation and commissioning phase. The raised access floor installation had to be carried out in coordination with mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and low-voltage trades, demanding strong on-site coordination and milestone control capabilities from the project team.
3. HUIYA Solution: ECS1000 Encapsulated Galvanized Steel Calcium Sulphate Raised Access Floor System

4. Installation: Professional Construction and Refined Management
Continuing the standardized management experience from Phase I, HUIYA maintained its full-lifecycle management philosophy throughout the 5,500-square-meter Phase II installation:
1. Pre-Construction Site Survey and Collaborative Design
The HUIYA engineering team mobilized in late April, conducting multiple rounds of in-depth technical coordination with the Siemens project management team and the general contractor to clarify the floor load grades, finished floor heights, and surface material interface plans for each functional zone in Phase II. The technical team used laser levels to remeasure elevations across multiple points on the original substrate, using the Phase I installed area as the benchmark, and uniformly planned the Phase II finished floor height at 150mm to ensure seamless transitions between Phase I and Phase II floor surfaces.

2. Standardized Pedestal Installation
On-site construction adopted a standardized positioning and layout method, with installation radiating outward from the central axis. Each steel adjustable pedestal base was structurally bonded to the substrate concrete using Japanese Konishi KU928 single-component, moisture-curing polyurethane adhesive. After curing, the adhesive forms an elastic layer that effectively absorbs equipment operating vibrations and reduces structural sound transmission.

3. Panel Installation and Precision Cutting
The ECS1000 panels were laid in the prescribed sequence from inside to outside, with electric screwdrivers used to fasten each panel to the top of its pedestal. In irregular areas around columns, walls, and equipment foundations, engineers used professional cutting tools to precisely trim panels according to actual on-site dimensions, ensuring a tight fit with the building structure and clean, aesthetic edges.

4. Multi-Surface Material Interface Reservation
For the various surface materials marked on the color floor plan, HUIYA verified thickness parameters with each surface material supplier in advance, fine-tuning pedestal heights across different zones so that the final floor elevation remains perfectly consistent across the entire floor—achieving seamless transitions between functional areas.

5. Full-Process Cleanup and Complete
After construction, the project team organized dedicated personnel to perform secondary cleaning across the entire floor, removing construction dust, pallets, and waste materials, ensuring a clean and professional handover to the Siemens client and creating optimal conditions for subsequent surface finish installation and smart equipment deployment.

Upon delivery of Phase II, the factory office area floor was flat and orderly, with the raised access floor system fully installed—laying a solid foundation for subsequent smart equipment deployment, cable routing, and detailed space construction. The clean, orderly, and high-standard floor space further elevated the overall infrastructure quality of the Siemens smart factory.
5. How HUIYA ECS1000 Addresses Each High-Demand Challenge
In response to the four core challenges of Phase II, the HUIYA ECS1000 Encapsulated Galvanized Steel Calcium Sulphate Raised Access Floor System delivered precise technical answers across product structure, materials and manufacturing, and construction methodology. This represents not merely a product application but the implementation of a “needs-driven” comprehensive solution.
🎯 Solution to Challenge 1: ±0.25mm Precision Conquers Multi-Surface Flatness
For the multi-zone, multi-surface interface challenges of Phase II, the ECS1000 provides foundational precision with ±0.25mm dimensional tolerance and ±0.5mm diagonal flatness. Before installation, HUIYA engineers used the Phase I finished surface as the benchmark, deploying laser levels for full-floor multi-point layout measurements, and individually fine-tuned each pedestal through millimeter-level height-adjustable mechanisms.
For the five different thicknesses of surface materials shown on the color floor plan (60×60cm ceramic tile, 25×100cm Mirage PVC, 22.86×91.44cm Pearland Vista, 23×150cm Gratisland LVT wood-grain, Summerfield Oak flooring, etc.), HUIYA coordinated thickness data with each surface material supplier in advance and dynamically adjusted pedestal reserve heights across different zones. As a result, the cross-zone elevation differences after final installation were controlled within visually imperceptible ranges, perfectly achieving seamless transitions across multiple materials.
🎯 Solution to Challenge 2: Six-Sided Steel Encapsulation Handles 18.0 kN/m² Load with Ease
Faced with the load pressures of smart equipment and heavy mobile workstations, the ECS1000’s composite structure—six-sided galvanized steel encapsulation combined with 1,600 kg/m³ high-density calcium sulphate substrate—demonstrated outstanding load-bearing capacity:
- Uniformly distributed load of 18.0 kN/m² – Stably supports long-term static loads from high-density workstations and automation control cabinets;
- Concentrated load of 4.5 kN – Sufficient to handle dynamic pressures from equipment movement, AGV passage, and concentrated maintenance tool actions;
- Six-sided steel encapsulation – Completely eliminates the risk of edge chipping and damage common to traditional calcium sulphate panels, ensuring each panel maintains structural integrity throughout long-term use.
Combined with steel adjustable pedestals (height range 55mm – 2,000mm; 150mm used in this project), the entire system forms a stable “panel + pedestal” load-bearing unit with uniform load distribution and zero risk of localized settlement—fully matching Siemens’ future smart factory equipment upgrade and expansion needs.
🎯 Solution to Challenge 3: Class A Fire Rating + Zero Formaldehyde Meets Stringent German-Invested Environmental Controls
The ECS1000’s performance in fire safety and environmental protection precisely aligns with Siemens’ rigorous internal control standards as a German enterprise:
Fire Performance: The calcium sulphate substrate is inherently non-combustible, producing no toxic gases under flame exposure, and complies with China’s Class A fire rating. This provides fundamental fire safety protection for the Siemens factory environment, where electrical components and automation control equipment are densely deployed.
Environmental Performance: The product features zero formaldehyde emissions and zero radioactive substances, complying with national green building material standards and EU environmental directives (REACH/RoHS).
Auxiliary Construction Materials Equally Upgraded: Pedestal bonding uses Japanese Konishi KU928 polyurethane adhesive, which meets the highest JIS A 5536 F★★★★ environmental rating—containing no VOCs or harmful components restricted by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare—non-toxic and odorless. This forms a complete environmental closed-loop from product to auxiliary materials.
This combined solution enabled the ECS1000 to successfully pass Siemens’ global building material internal control audit (SGRE Material Compliance), laying a compliance foundation for HUIYA’s future engagement with more German-invested projects.
🎯 Solution to Challenge 4: Modular System + Mature Project Management Handles Concurrent Schedules with Ease
The Phase II project involved numerous concurrent construction nodes with mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and low-voltage systems. HUIYA achieved efficient coordination through dual-engine drive of “product modularity + management standardization”:
- Product Modularity: The 600×600mm standard panel units can be installed and removed independently, allowing flexible adjustment of work sequences in any area based on the construction progress of other trades. The reasonable single-panel weight of 18.5 kg also maximizes on-site manual handling efficiency;
- Standardized Construction Process: HUIYA adopted the “central axis positioning + inside-out radiating installation” methodology, with stable and controllable daily progress;
- Digitalized Progress Synchronization: On-site construction management adopted digital process tracking, with daily progress, material consumption, and quality milestones synchronized in real time with the Siemens client team and general contractor, ensuring transparent information across all parties during concurrent operations;
- Long-Term Maintainability: Each panel can be lifted independently, making future inspection and expansion of underfloor utilities, power and data trays, and HVAC ducts highly convenient,substantially reducing the lifecycle operation and maintenance costs of the Siemens factory.
Ultimately, the 5,500-square-meter project was delivered with high quality within 27 working days, ahead of the equipment installation and commissioning milestone, earning high recognition from the Siemens project manager.
