Support System

The pedestal system used in this project consists of H60–150mm standard galvanized steel pedestals in two types: center pedestals and border flat pedestals. Each pedestal is precision-assembled from an M8 bolt, circular steel cover plate, black PVC vibration-dampening pad, steel top plate (80mm × 80mm × 3.0mm), M18 threaded rod, locking nut, and steel base plate (95mm × 2mm). The nominal pedestal height ranges from 60mm to 150mm, with ±25mm fine adjustment via the threaded rod to accommodate floor-level deviations and ensure final surface-level accuracy.

The four corners of each floor panel are secured to the pedestal top plates via a corner-locking mechanism. The entire system requires no cross-beams, making installation quick and efficient.

During installation, operators apply KU928C-X adhesive via a dedicated caulking gun to the contact surface between the steel pedestal base plate (95mm × 95mm × 2mm) and the concrete subfloor, utilizing a moisture-curing reaction to achieve a strong chemical bond between the pedestal and the floor surface. This anchor-free bonding method completely eliminates the need to drill holes into the structural slab, effectively preserving the building’s structural integrity — making it especially suitable for leased commercial office spaces where damage-free removal may be required upon lease expiration.

In the office environments of semiconductor equipment companies, indoor air quality requirements are extremely stringent. By selecting KONISHI KU928 adhesive meeting the F-4 Star standard, harmful gas emissions are eliminated at the source, ensuring the health and safety of the office space.

Precision Craftsmanship: Full Construction Documentation of the 650-Square-Meter Project

In accordance with the HUIYA GRC800 raised access floor standard installation specifications, the construction process proceeds as follows: First, the room’s length and width dimensions are measured, and the number of full panels and edge-cut panel sizes are calculated. For this project, installation began with the first center pedestal placed 300mm from the wall along the length direction, with full panels laid outward in sequence. Once all full panels in the central area were installed, the actual dimensions of the remaining edge zones on both sides were measured, and panels were precision-cut using a dedicated cutting machine before being installed as edge panels to complete the full coverage. The same principle applies along the width direction. Edge areas are supported and fixed using border flat pedestals to ensure a tight finish against the walls.

Step 1: Raised Access Floor Base Layer Installation

The construction team first bonded the galvanized steel pedestal base plates firmly to the concrete subfloor on the original 14th floor of Huahong Tower using KONISHI KU928 adhesive. Each pedestal’s height was adjusted via the threaded rod to achieve a uniform level surface. The GRC800 inorganic cement raised access floor panels were then laid one by one, with each panel’s four corners precisely seated into the corner-locking mechanisms on the pedestal top plates, ensuring overall stability and consistency across the entire floor surface.

▲ Early construction phase: Workers perform wall and ceiling tasks from scaffolding while GRC800 raised access floor base layer installation is already complete on the ground level
▲ GRC800 raised access floor base layer close-up: Panels are neatly arranged with tight joints; the four-corner pedestal locking mechanisms are clearly visible, and the grid cable routing holes are evenly distributed across the panel surfaces
▲ Panoramic view of the GRC800 raised access floor base layer installation in the large open-plan office area; floor-to-ceiling windows bring in ample natural light, showcasing the full 650-square-meter installation area
▲ Construction workers performing base layer floor installation and window-edge finishing; ladders, power tools, and other construction equipment are neatly organized
▲ The raised access floor base layer installation nearing completion; workers inspect floor flatness and cable routing paths, with wood-veneer wall panels already installed in the background

Across the 650-square-meter open office area, the raised access floor system is uniformly and precisely aligned, with tight and even gaps between panels and a stable, reliable pedestal system. The 60mm to 150mm void beneath the raised access floor provides ample routing space for subsequent network, power, and low-voltage cabling, allowing workstation wiring to be adjusted at any time according to actual needs — completely eliminating the exposed cables and safety hazards associated with traditional floor-level wiring. Each panel weighs only 13.5kg and can be easily lifted by a single person during subsequent maintenance, facilitating convenient inspection and servicing of cable infrastructure within the void.

Step 2: Surface Layer Installation and Finishing

After the raised access floor base layer installation was completed and overall levelness was verified, vibrant carpet tiles were laid on the surface. The carpet features a predominantly gray base tone accented with geometric color-block patterns in green, blue, and yellow. While maintaining the dignified professionalism of an office environment, the design incorporates an energetic and contemporary design language. The carpet tiles complement the GRC800 panels’ excellent surface flatness (±0.5mm) perfectly – after installation, the floor surface is highly level with no arching, no edge lifting, and outstanding visual consistency.

▲ Surface layer installation in progress: The right side shows the installed colorful carpet tiles, while the left side exposes the bare GRC800 base layer panels, clearly demonstrating the dual-layer structure of the raised access floor system
▲ Completed project photo: Panoramic view of the 650-square-meter open office area, featuring carpet tiles with a gray base tone and green, blue, and yellow geometric patterns; the ceiling adopts an industrial-style exposed design
▲ Completed project photo: An alternative angle showcasing the office space with outstanding floor flatness and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows creating a spacious visual experience
▲ Completed panoramic view of the office area: A spacious and bright modern office space

The completed office space is bright and open, with no noise, looseness, or soft spots when walking across the floor. The GRC800 panel’s uniform load capacity of 18.0 kN/m² and safety factor of 3.0 provide ample load-bearing margin for everyday office furniture, equipment, and foot traffic. Meanwhile, the sound-insulating design of the black PVC vibration-dampening pads atop the pedestals renders the entire floor system virtually silent during foot traffic, creating a quiet working environment for the semiconductor technology team that demands high levels of concentration.
